Why two identical-looking models print differently
A 3MF project is a ZIP container of model XML and application-specific configuration. Layer height, wall count, infill, speed, temperature, support, and printer profiles may change without an obvious visual clue.
Cross-slicer field names
Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, and PrusaSlicer use overlapping concepts but not always identical keys. PrintDiff maps stable keys to readable categories and preserves the actual field name under Other changes when a safe mapping is not available.
What to check first
Start with printer and nozzle compatibility, then filament temperatures, quality and strength settings, speed, and support. Object count and dimensions help catch a missing plate object or accidentally scaled model.
Limits of metadata comparison
Not every slicer version stores every setting in the same place. Unknown fields remain visible instead of being silently discarded, but application-specific binary data may not be interpretable.
